A glass, leather and brass water, or lemonade pitcher by the highly regarded and collected Austrian design Carl Auböck. The pitcher is very clean, elegant and simple in design. The leather band three quarters of the way up the pitcher is made so that it can simply slide down the body of the pitcher when it needs to be washed. The piece is quite unusual in the deep cherry red colour. They are more often found in a natural colour. The simple brass handle is stitched into the leather sleeve, and can all be removed. Both gravity and the weight of the content combined to keep the band and handle perfectly poised to decant the contents of the pitcher. The condition of the piece is excellent, with no water marking, or any damage to the glass. Made in Austria, circa 1950's.
